FORTIFIED WINE
Port wine and sherry wine are typical wines that have been added to alcohol by increasing alcohol content to 18% or more by adding alcohol or Eau de Vie (brandy juice) to regular wines. Common wines are usually around 12% alcohol, but 18% wine is also high. This type of wine is called Fortified Wine , and it is the addition of alcohol or Eau de Vie to the regular wine to raise the alcohol level. Many different styles of fortified wine have been developed, including Port, Sherry, Madeira, Marsala, Commandaria wine, and the aromatised wine Vermouth.
